Our website engages in affiliate marketing, which is done by embedding tracking links into this site.
If you click on a link for an affiliate partnership, a temporary cookie is placed on your browser to track any sales for purposes of commissions.
Most importantly, none of these links change the content or what you see. It does not track individuals’ personal data, but does allow us to continue to provide our content for free.
How affiliate marketing works
When you make a purchase, or carry out some actions like signing up to an affiliate company’s newsletter, as a direct result of clicking on a link on our website, we will receive a small commission.
For example, when you click on links in our Travel Shop pages, we will receive a commission if you decide to make a purchase from that site.
The level of commission varies depending on the company, but it’s usually a very small percentage of the price of anything you purchase, at no extra cost to you.
Our ethics
We do not use an automatic system for linking. Instead, we individually select and create links for companies that are relevant to the topic we are writing about.
From time to time we may publish specific articles about our affiliate partners and any promotions, offers or new products they may have.
We will always declare at the top of any post if the article contains affiliate links.
Occasionally we are sent products or given experiences to review. When this happens, we will always state it clearly in the text and mark the post as ‘gifted’.
We never accept payment or products in return for a positive review.
If a company sponsors us to promote them, we will make it clear we have received payment for the article, but will always ensure that the content is honest and reflects our views.
We use two companies to create our affiliate links – Affiliate Window and Rakuten.
