Mizu, Brentwood – noodles and more

It’s difficult to get a decent meal when you’re on the road. There are some good service stations in the UK, but most offer pretty standard fast food fare.
That’s why we are regulars at Mizu Noodle Bar in Brentwood.

Just off the M25 at the junction with the A12, it makes the perfect rest stop for lunch or supper.

We travel that way frequently (making full use of their loyalty card!) and they’ve never let us down. Early in 2022 they changed their menu.

Is it as good as before?

Heck yes!

They’ve even added Pork Belly’s absolute favourite dimsum of all time – char siu bao buns.

Seating is the usual long benches you get in most noodle bars, and there’ve opened up a new outdoor dining area.

The menu is described as “pan-Asian” so there’s something there for most tastes.

The ramen soups are very popular, and extremely filling, and they have a wide selection of rice or noodle based dishes.

There’s a separate kids menu, a gluten-free menu and an allergen guide, so dietary requirements are well catered for.

Green tea, spicy prawn crackers and veggie spring rolls are our traditional starter, waking up jaded taste buds.

After that, Pork Belly usually goes for a curry mee or another of their amazing noodle soups.

I indulge in one of their vegetarian options – maybe something spicy with chilli or satay or a plainer stir-fry vegetable selection.

The service is efficient and friendly, everything arrives quickly and is piping hot.

We never have room for dessert, and time is not on our side anyway, but it makes the perfect road trip stopover.

Mizu also has a restaurant in Ipswich town centre if you want a more leisurely meal.

But for us, it’s the quick-and-tasty option at Brentwood that keeps us coming back.

See you again soon Mizu!
