It’s often said the best wines are made by the nicest people.
We love the wines of Kent-based Woodchurch vineyard, and so do the wine experts because Woodchurch English wines win award after award.

Their Woodchurch Classic Brut has just this month received a Gold medal in both the prestigious Decanter World Wine Awards and the Independent English Wine Awards 2023.

Woodchurch Wine

The Woodchurch Wine Estate is a family affair, a vineyard planted in 2010, with over 12 acres of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Meunier and Bacchus vines, producing still and sparkling wines which just keep on winning.

We discovered them in 2015, and they can be found on the edge of the lovely Kent village that gives the estate its name. The views are stunning, looking south over the ancient Romney Marsh down to the English Channel.

And the land is perfect for producing the highest quality grapes.

Woodchurch is open Thursdays to Sundays, 11am to 5pm for tours and tastings all year round.
You can pick up a map and stroll round by yourself for free, or book a £20 full tour and tasting session led by founder Graham Barbour.

And at harvest time, you can get hands-on, as they invite volunteers to help get the precious fruit cut and gathered. We’ve done it before. It’s hard work but a lot of fun!

They also run a small bar and restaurant on site, and you can buy their wines from the cellar door. But don’t worry if you’re not near enough to visit, they have an online shop as well.

Now they’re helping us celebrate our ten years of blogging with this great prize.

Made from 100% Chardonnay grapes grown exclusively on the Woodchurch Wine Estate in Kent, this English sparkling Chardonnay Brut 2016 is a Glass of Bubbly Trophy winner, a wine with a unique personality that stands out from the rest.

Experts say it has aromas of peach and honeysuckle, flavours of lemon meringue and hints of toffee apple and butterscotch. It’s rich and creamy with a crisp acidity, leading to a long, finely balanced finish.

We just say ‘delicious’!

“Buttery, with yellow plums and ripe melon in aromas. Flavours of apples, pear, citrus, honeysuckle with a hint of herbs.”
